Homeowner Series | Budgeting Part 3

Updated: Jul 14, 2023

🕊Do you know the factors that affect your home remodeling budget the most? Here’s Part 3 in this 4-part series.

Homeowner Series: Budgeting Part 3

Material choices are one of the things that affect your budget the most.

Here's why ...

1. Lowest-priced items are not always a bargain.

- The lowest sticker price sometimes means it doesn't come with everything you need.

Ex: One flooring might not come with underlayment and therefore cost more in separate product costs and labor.

- Can be too low quality to be worth it.

2. Familiarize yourself with item pricing

- Check out your favorite brands online and in person.

- Download cost guides from contractors to learn labor costs for items too.

- Knowledge is power and genuinely gives you a better remodeling experience!

3. Know what area is most important to you

- If your budget is tight, let your contractor know if your heart is set on that free-standing soaking tub.

There are quality alternative brands that are nearly identical to higher-end finishes that can accommodate your style in other areas, so you get your tub!

But …

don’t worry that you need to know the details about materials. Just familiarize yourself with pricing, and a quality contractor or designer will help you!

So …

The more understanding you have, the better educated your decisions will be!
