Coastal Bathroom Addition

Project type

Interior Remodeling | Additions

Location

Spokane Valley, WA

This bathroom addition was for some fantastic homeowners who had a charming two-story home with a wrap-around porch and wanted to create a second bathroom upstairs. The second floor of the home, initially an open loft area, was transformed into a stunning and functional bathroom. This innovative use of space added value to the home and demonstrated the potential of every corner of a house. However, this affected the foyer, as you could view the loft from the front door. So, the foyer was reframed and enclosed, given a fresh, level-five smooth drywall finish, and then painted.

Back upstairs, the homeowners chose a beautiful coastal palette of blues, greens, grays, and white for the bathroom. As you walk into the room, the toilet is first on the left, and a dividing wall gives it some privacy. A custom glass-surround shower with marble-look wet walls and satin nickel fixtures is tucked around the corner on the right. Opposite the shower, a linen closet and a built-in soaking tub with a coastal tile backsplash are nestled under a window. A beautiful, established tree enhances the view by providing privacy without blocking the homeowner’s property’s views.

Moving counterclockwise from the tub, a custom-fit, furniture-style vanity with feet, a toe kick, double sinks, a cultured stone countertop, satin nickel hardware, and a large frameless mirror is tucked nicely into place. The room is well-lit with recessed lighting, brightening the coastal blue walls and sand-colored LVP flooring. Chefs kiss! I love a coastal bathroom!
